Up..Up..and Away

Twelve hours from now we will be leaving for the airport. A relatively short flight from here to BWI but on Friday the 13th, it is going to seem like an all day affair. It will be nothing compared to the flights I took to Alaska while in the womb, now THAT was a flight (no view though). So, wish me the best of luck: no stinky aisle sharers, no snotty flight attendants, no airborne flu, no delays, no immature crying babies and no worries. When we get to MD, we will pick up the car, eat dinner, get a nap and head to NC in the morning. See you in northeastern NC!!!

Summertime in the city

Man, is it hot or what? I had a big day yesterday...I went to breakfast at dad's school for a champagne toast in celebration of his schools accreditation and I met some really nice folks. From there, we went and picked up my birth certificate so now I AM OFFICIAL! Dad sold his car and we went to drop that off. I am excited about the new car they are getting...a stationwagon! We are flying to pick it up in Maryland this Friday and I get to meet my great uncle Mike. He is one of dad's great friends and I hear them on the phone all of the time telling jokes and talking bad about gas prices and the government. We had a friend over, Miss Lizzie, and she was very pretty and very nice. She held me for a while but never offered me a nipple, what's up with that? Then we went to have sushi...the place was really loud but I just slept my way through the noise. It was my first restaurant experience and I am glad that mom and dad took me. They needed to get out of the house.

We have many errands to run today. We're heading to mom and dad's hometown this weekend for the summer and I can't wait to meet my cousins and also see what all this talk about Grandma Rose and Grandpa Jim's "play"house is all about. Hopefully I will see some of you all there!

No matter the weather...

I am still chillin. Chao.

**this was not staged--this is how I nap!

Misunderstanding...

When i was in the womb, my mom and dad would talk to me and say things like, "Jack, come on out, I know it is hot in there" so, now I am out and it is 100 degrees out here. It was 2 degrees cooler tucked inside my mom's belly and the humidity wasn't much different either. I hope my parents don't continue to lie to me in order to coerce me into doing things. I am already hip to the fact that no fairy princess is gonna give me a buck to yank a loose tooth from my gum line. I would rather them say, "Jack, if you don't pull that tooth, all of your other teeth are going to be jumbled up in your mouth and when you smile it will look like your mouth has a built in bottle opener." Though the opener might come in handy, I want some pearly whites, that is half the reason I am gulping down all of this breastmilk--crazy calcium! Anyway, stay cool...I know I won't.

Chicks...

I have heard through the grapevine that some people have been saying that I look like a little chick because of my down-like yellow fuzz but I would like to state for the record, contrary to what you all might think I am nothing like a chick, in fact, read my shirt--chicks dig me!

Anyway, life is going great. Mom loves me and feeds me constantly and dad tries to play catch with me (throws me up and down while mom cringes) and assists in diaper changes but as of now, I am primarily a mommas boy.

I am getting really strong and much bigger. I am up another diaper size! By the way, make sure to vote on my eye color. They probably won't show up for another 2 months (at least) but with dad's hazel and mom's blues, I am interested to see what others think.

Jack's joke of the day--A man walking down the street noticed a little boy trying to reach the doorbell of a house, even when he jumped up, he couldn't quite reach it.
The man decided to be a good Samaritan and help the boy. After he walked up on to the porch and pushed the doorbell for the lad, he smiled and asked, "What now?" The boy answered, "Now we run like hell you old geezer!"

Chin check...

I was right, my weight is fine. I am up to 9lbs and growing. I need to find a doctor in EC for my 2 month visit since we won't be here. It has been a long day and I need a nap now. PEACE.
~Jack

Appointment...

going to the doc this morning to check my weight. I think I'll be OK since I have done nothing but eat, eat, eat (and poops and pees in between) thanks to my beautiful mommy and her boobies!!! I hope to have exceeded my birth weight but we'll see. I'll post when I get back... ~djd

For my Grandpa...

Since we didn't get a chance to meet, I made a short video for you...

~Jack

Life is good.

Tomorrow I will be a week old. Man, time flies. I have met some really cool people over the past days and some that I was really excited to meet didn't make it. Nana and Paw-paw were here when I came out. They were wonderful. They helped mom and dad stay calm during my delivery and made sure that we didn't have to go through this experience without family support. I can't wait to spend the summer closer to them, they are really nice and sure know how to make a baby feel special.

Grandma Rose and Grandpa Jim came in the night after Nana and Paw-paw left. They were busy! They built a deck on the back of the house so that I can enjoy the backyard and even helped to decorate the back porch so that we could rig it up with music, t.v. and lights. Dad says, "the bar is open" but we'll probably have to wait until we get back in the fall to thoroughly enjoy it...especially for Wolfpack football!! Mom and dad have barely been inside since, and I even got a little tan!

NanaKat, aunt Margie and my Grandpa were on there way yesterday but had to turn around because Grandpa had an infection that could have made me sick. I really wanted to meet him. His mommy (my great-grandma) told me yesterday that he was the same length as I was when he was born...21 1/2 inches. Now he is 6 foot 6 inches! If I inherit that height, I might be able to play ball for the Pack in some capacity...baseball, basketball, football, whatever. Mom and dad also say that they think I have a dimple in my right cheek, maybe both cheeks but they really won't know for sure until I decide to start smiling more. If so, I got that from grandpa too, he is the only family member with dimples! I guess I will have to wait a few weeks to meet dad's dad, and then I hope I can meet my dad's dad's dad soon too!

Dad has taken me throughout the neighborhood in my stroller and really like it. It seems like a wonderful place for kids with the child friendly restaurants and parks galore. I look forward to doing more exploring soon. Mom and dad want me to spend a lot of time outside and this seems like a great place to do it. I think I'll go out on my new deck right now and listen to the birds...I'll post again soon!
